The Bagby House
circa 1783 was originally the overseer’s house for one of the
Chelsea plantations. It was built at the end of the revolutionary
war by a family of Scottish heritage. An addition was built in 1850.
The home is well situated in the county,
making it an easy commute to Williamsburg,
Ricmond, VA Beach, OBX, DC, or the mountains. Two boat ramps to the Mattaponi river
within ten minutes, Rappahannock river less than twenty minutes.

(suitable for horses, livestock, or crops) and woods
(habitat for deer, turkeys, and rabbits, and occasional
American bald eagle). Across the road are two
historically preserved country stores and home among the

The timber-frame home retains all original moldings, doors, and
pine floors. It boasts six working fireplaces (two with
gas logs, two with woodstoves) and an English basement.
